The Front Hold is a challenging event in strongman competitions that tests competitors’ upper body strength and endurance. For years this event was mostly performed with a large beer stein. More often now this event will be performed with a large single hammer. Regardless of what odd object you decide to hoist and hold you’re sure to find this event very challenging. This event targets the shoulders, arms, and core muscles requiring participants to maintain a static position against the resistance of the weight. The objects are held at arm’s length out in front of the athlete. This event can be performed with the athlete’s back against a wall or free-standing. The winner is determined by the individual who can endure this physically demanding position for the longest duration, showcasing exceptional shoulder and core strength. Promoters will usually have two or more athletes perform together for a more entertaining experience. This event is often used as a tie-breaker event.
