The Axle Bar Squat is a strongman event that tests an athlete’s strength and power. Here are some detailed rules for an Axle Bar Squat competition:
- The Axle Bar used in the event should be specified by the competition and can vary depending on the level of the athletes. The Axle bar is a type of barbell that is thicker than a regular barbell and has no knurling in the center. The weight is loaded on the ends of the bar, which makes it more difficult to control than a regular barbell.
- The weight on the Axle Bar should be specified by the competition and can vary depending on the level of the athletes.
- The athlete should squat with the Axle Bar on their shoulders and should reach parallel or below parallel with the thighs at the bottom of the squat.
- The athlete should squat with the Axle Bar starting and finishing at a specific point, determined by the competition.
- The athlete has to complete a certain number of reps or a certain amount of weight within a certain time limit.
- The athlete will be disqualified if they drop the Axle Bar, if they fail to reach parallel or below parallel, if they fail to complete the squat within the time limit or if they don’t follow the rules.
- Gear: The athlete should only wear the supportive equipment specified by the competition, such as squat briefs, squat suits, lifting belts, knee wraps, knee sleeves, elbow sleeves, and wrist wraps.
- The athlete should be given a “squat” command by the head judge before starting each squat and the judge should then give a “good” command when the athlete reaches squat depth for the rep to count. A “no rep” will be announced if the athlete fails to hit depth or lockout the squat.
- The athlete should not bounce out of the bottom.
- The Axle Bar should be loaded by the official loaders and should be placed in a specific order, with the heaviest weight last.
- The athlete’s time will be stopped as soon as they successfully completed the number of reps or weight specified in the competition and will be given a score based on the time they finished or the highest weight successfully lifted.
It’s important to note that different competitions may have different rules or variations of the axle bar squat, so it’s a good idea to check with the specific competition you plan to participate in.
