Powerlifting equipment refers to the types of equipment used in the sport of powerlifting. Powerlifting is a strength sport that consists of three events: the squat, the bench press, and the deadlift. The goal of powerlifting is to lift as much weight as possible in each of these events. The equipment used in powerlifting includes:
- Barbells: Competition barbells are used for all three powerlifting events.
- Calibrated Plates: Olympic weights plates of different weights are used to load the barbell.
- Collars: Clamps that hold the weights on the barbell.
- Monolift or Power Rack: A specialized competition stand that holds the barbell and allows the lifter to rack and unrack the weight.
- Bench Press: A specialized competition bench is used for the bench press event.
- Deadlift Jack: A device used to lift the barbell off the floor for the deadlift event.
- Knee Wraps, Belts, and Suits: used for support and to increase the weight that can be lifted.
- Chalk: used for gripping the barbell.
These equipment are designed to allow the lifter to safely and effectively lift heavy weights, and to test their overall strength and power.
