RED – Deadlift Bars. These are bars specifically designed for the deadlift. In most cases, these bars are longer and thinner than the typical barbell. They usually have less stiffness allowing them to bend more. The Texas Deadlift Bar is approved as a deadlift bar for the USPA.
BLUE – Power Bars. The Power Bar is used for the Squat, Bench, and Deadlift. The Texas Power Bar is the official bar of the USAPL and is used for all three lifts. A variety of Power Bars are used in all Powerlifting organizations. Some Powerlifting organizations only use the Power Bar for the Bench Press and some will include it as a Squat Bar for Women and Light Weight Men.
GREEN – Specialty Squat Bars. These bars are all used for the Squat. Many of these may also be used as specialty bars for the bench.
YELLOW – Olympic Bars. These bars are specifically designed for the sport and training of Olympic Weightlifting. These bars must only be used for Olympic weightlifting and only loaded with bumper plates. Large metal plates will damage these bars making them useless to our Olympic Weightlifters.
Orange – Women’s Bar. These bars are primarily used by women for the Strength Sport Olympic Weightlifting. These are 15 kg/ 33 lb bars. Bumper plates are best for these bars.
PURPLE – Multi Purpose Bar. Most of these bars are our Ivanko Bars. Ivanko designs an amazing bar that can be used for all lifts. These do have more whip to them than a typical power bar and less than a deadlift bar.
