Armlifting or grip sport equipment refers to the types of equipment used in the sport of armlifting or grip sport. Armlifting is a strength sport that focuses on the strength of the hand, wrists and forearms and is based on performing exercises such as crushing grip, pinch grip, and gripping static holds. The goal of armlifting is to lift as much weight as possible and/or hold weight for a specific amount of time in various events. The equipment used in armlifting includes:
- Hand Grippers: these are used to increase grip strength by squeezing the handles together
- Plate Pinch: These are weight plates that can be pinched between the fingers and thumb
- Thick Bars: Bars with a thicker diameter than regular barbells and dumbbells increase the difficulty of gripping.
- Farmers Walk Handles: Heavy handles that are carried in each hand
- Apollon’s Axles: A thick barbell with no collars for grip strength training
- Gripper Blocks: blocks of wood or metal that are used for gripping exercises
- Loading Pins: Devices that hold weight plates for grip exercises
This equipment is designed to test the competitor’s grip strength, hand strength, and wrist strength, and is meant to mimic everyday tasks that require grip strength and power.
