    • Pulling the shoulder blades forward and around the rib cage
  • Upward rotation of the scapula
    • Rotating the shoulder blade upwards
  • Stabilization of the scapula
    • Holding the shoulder blades against the thoracic wall

Attachment:

  • Origin:
    • External surfaces of the lateral parts of ribs 1-8 (or 1-9)
  • Insertion:
    • Anterior surface of the medial border of the scapula
